ByGRASS VALLEY, CA – When he woke up Sunday, Mike Graves of Grass Valley didn’t realize it was going to be one of the luckiest days of his life.
Graves was taken to the Alta Sierra Airport in Grass Valley Sunday where he was presented with a surprise gift — a 2005 Cirrus SR22 aircraft as the winner of a national sweepstakes run by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assocation.
Graves was chosen at random from the association’s more than 416,000 members nationwide, according to AOPA CEO Craig Fuller.
“It’s a one-in-a-million shot when you get right down to it,” Fuller said.
Graves had no idea he had been selected from the club's membership to receive the award until Sunday.
